Beehive Huts
On-site video footage of World War II ‘Beehive’ concrete bomb shelters, located in private gardens in and around Dublin. This filmed research was part of the 2016 Arts Council Architecture Bursary, producing a visual essay focussing on a forgotten aspect of the material culture of early twentieth century Ireland. These little-known remnants of ‘the Emergency’ combined innovation in their material construction with reference to traditional vernacular forms.
