Remodelling of a detached home

Remodelling of a detached home

A large secluded bungalow underwent a full-scale remodelling. The existing kitchen, utility room, dining room and living room were combined in to one large, flexible, open-plan space along the east of the house. Full-height, free standing furniture separate these spaces, with concealed sliding doors facilitating compartmentalisation. A large rooflight in the entrance hall brings south light in to the plan. The refurbishment included external insulation, a ground source heat pump and extensive exterior landscaping.

Client comments

“Often the upgrade of a house is a full time, time consuming, stressful job. Stephen made our life much easier. He is smart, talented, hard worker architect. He has been very proactive in all the different parts of the job. During the planning phase he was able to propose 2-3 different excellent solutions for any uncertainties we might have had. Then he made sure the project became reality and worked a lot together with the builder during the onsite part. We moved in 1year ago and we are super happy. Thank you!!!”
