film 1 describes a journey through a building; a contemplation on time, change and memory. Its tone is dream-like, reflective and almost melancholic. film 1 was made using 16mm film. The presence of the actor provides scale and movement and invests an emotional quality to the spaces. The film documents the interior of the former Dublin Civic Museum on South William Street in Dublin. This Georgian building, originally the first purpose-built art gallery in the British Isles, lay empty at the time of filming.
